Chicago Flag Spread

Chicago Flag Spread

The Chicago flag was designed by author Wallace Rice and adopted in 1917 however, the original design only displayed two stars. Two more stars were eventually added, one in 1933 and one in 1939 to complete the four-starred flag. The red six-pointed stars on the flag each represent important events in Chicago’s history. Every star also holds meaning in each of the six points. The stripes on the flag also hold meaning. The two blue stripes represent the North and South Branches of the Chicago River while the three white stripes represent the North, West, and South sides of Chicago.
